Strong tremors were felt near Russia’s Kuril Islands

Strong earthquake tremors were felt in Russia’s Kuril Islands region on Tuesday.
The quake measured 5.8 on the Richter scale, Elena Semenova, head of the Sakhalinsk Seismological Station, said here today.
Ms Semenova said the epicenter of this morning’s quake was located 11 km south of Simushir Island at a depth of 59 km.
He said no tsunami warning had been issued.
