Now instead of 17 percent, 28 percent will be given dearness allowance

The Central Government has given a big gift to the central employees who have been waiting for Dearness Allowance (DA) for almost a year. In the cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister on Wednesday, it has been decided to increase it from 17 percent to 28 percent with the removal of the ban on DA. The increased rate of DA will be applicable from July 1. Whereas till the month of June, the employees will get 17 percent allowance as before. Significantly, due to Corona, the Central Government had banned DA from June last year.

After the cabinet meeting, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said that the increase in DA by 11 percent will cost the exchequer Rs 34,401 crore every year. It will benefit 48.34 lakh employees and 65.26 lakh pensioners. He said that due to Corona, three installments of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief, payable to Central Government employees and pensioners on January 1, 2020, July 1, 2020 and January 1, 2021, were withheld.

The government had increased DA three times from January 2020 to January 2021. In January 2020, DA was increased by four percent, in June 2020 by three percent and in January this year by four percent. However, it was not paid due to Corona. Now after the ban on DA is lifted, all three installments will be paid.
Expansion of National Ayush Mission
The cabinet has decided to extend the National AYUSH Mission from 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2026. Under this, education and training related to AYUSH system is to be expanded. Under this mission, apart from construction of 12,000 AYUSH Health Wellness Centres, six AYUSH colleges, 12 PG institutes, the level of old hospitals is to be raised.

In the cabinet meeting, a budget of 9800 crores has been approved to promote animal husbandry in rural India. Under this, there is a plan to run ambulances for animals, breed development with the help of modern technology. The entire scheme related to this is Rs 54000 crore.

Big relief has also been given to the textile sector which is in trouble due to Corona. The cabinet has decided to continue with the state levies and tax exemptions for export of garments and apparels in the textile sector. The exemption already issued has been extended till 31 August 2024. The government believes that the stable system created by this will make it easier for exporters to work. Indian textiles will be more competitive in the global market and employment will increase due to incentives for exports to startups and entrepreneurs.
