Himachal Pradesh / Solan : 800 saplings planted in Van Mahotsav organized in Nandal village

Under the joint aegis of District Administration Solan, Forest Department and Red Cross Committee, Van Mahotsav program was organized in Nandal village of Ochhaghat, Gram Panchayat of Solan Development Block. State BJP Mahila Morcha President Rashmidhar Sood was present on the occasion as the chief guest. The program was presided over by Sub Divisional Officer Solan Ajay Yadav.
More than 250 people planted around 800 saplings of different species in this Van Mahotsav ceremony held today. On this occasion, ‘Balika Samman Vatika’ was established by Integrated Child Development Project Solan by planting 50 saplings in the name of 50 daughters born in nearby areas.

State BJP Mahila Morcha President Rashmidhar Sood said on this occasion that the increase in green cover of hilly state like Himachal is beneficial for the whole of North India. He said that setting up of Balika Samman Vatikas in the state would help in strengthening the positive attitude towards the girl child, while these gardens would also help in promoting tourism in the times to come. He urged everyone to make the plantation programs successful and ensure the safety of the planted saplings.

Sub Divisional Officer Solan Ajay Yadav said on this occasion that trees are very important for environment and land conservation. He said that apart from providing us with life-giving oxygen, trees also provide many medicines.
He urged that for the protection of nature, take care of the plants like children and ensure that the planted saplings become healthy trees.

Poonam Sharma, head of village panchayat Ochhaghat, head of village panchayat Nauni, Madan Himachali, head of village panchayat Sanhol, Kusum, member of BDC, Anita Devi, deputy head of village panchayat Ochhaghat, Naresh Kumar, Tehsildar Solan Gurmeet Negi, Block Development Officer Solan Ramesh Sharma, CDPO Solan Dr. Padmadev Sharma, RO Solan Tejprakash Sharma, supervisor Ochchghat Yogita Chaudhary, local Mahila Mandal head Kamlesh Kumari, youth board head Rakesh Thakur along with people of Ochhaghat, Nauni and Shamrod gram panchayats were present.
