Taliban releases 80 prisoners on Eid al-Adha
Terrorist group Taliban says it has released 80 prisoners in eight provinces of Afghanistan on the first day of holiday for the Muslim festival Eid al-Adha. The release of prisoners by the militant group comes after the Afghan government and the Taliban could not agree on a short-term ceasefire or the release of prisoners during the Eid al-Adha holiday during a meeting in Doha on Sunday.
Suhail Shaheen, a spokesman for the Taliban Political Office in Doha, said they were seeking a “peaceful solution” and an “Afghan inclusive Islamic government”.
Significantly, these days with the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan, violence is being seen from the Taliban side. The withdrawal of the army was one of the points of the agreement between the Taliban and the US in Doha in February last year.
