Minister expressed concern over indiscriminate felling of trees

Dehradun : A plantation program was organized by Ramani Foundation in the National Institute for the Empowerment of Visually Handicapped Persons on Saturday on the occasion of Harela festival. Minister Joshi assured to get five acres of land, a vehicle and an ambulance in the city for the CRC centre. Chief guest cabinet minister and Mussoorie MLA Ganesh Joshi along with others planted saplings in the institute premises and gave the message of environmental protection to the citizens. The cabinet minister saluted the gurus present in the program on the occasion of Guru Purnima. Remembering his political mentor, the cabinet minister became emotional and at the same time thanked his gurus, due to which he is able to serve the public today. The government has set a target of planting two crore saplings, he said. Basmati and Litchi of Uttarakhand are world famous. But due to the indiscriminate felling of trees, their numbers are continuously decreasing. Due to the cutting of trees, the environment is getting polluted and natural calamities like floods, landslides, storms are coming. Plant more and more trees and save the environment. Planting a tree is like giving birth to 10 sons. He appealed to the people present in the program to plant more and more trees for environmental protection. During this, Society President Vandana Srivastava, Institute Director Inderjit Jaggi, Research President Manish Verma, Circle President Poonam Nautiyal, Divisional General Secretary Surendra Rana, Councilor Sanjay Nautiyal, Yogesh Agarwal, Chunilal etc. were present.
