Death toll in Henan rises to 69 due to rain devastation

The death toll from torrential rains in China’s Henan province has risen to 69, according to information from the provincial government’s information office, with the latest round of rain affecting more than 12.9 million people and the flood situation remains grim .

The office said a total of 933,800 residents in Henan have been evacuated and about 972,000 hectares of crops have been damaged. A new round of heavy rain is being seen in the province till Thursday. The Henan Provincial Meteorological Observatory said heavy rain is expected in the cities of Jinyang, Jumadian, Zhoukou, Shangqiu, Kaifeng, Puyang, Xinjiang, Hebei and Anyang.
