Japanese star Osaka out of Olympic tennis matches

Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka crashed out of the Tokyo Olympics after losing in the third round.

World number two Osaka was defeated by Czech Republic’s Marketa Vondrusova 6-1, 6-4. Osaka had never faced Vondrusova before. After the loss, Osaka admitted that there was a lot of pressure on him for this match. .

Osaka lit the Olympic flame at the opening ceremony on July 23. This was Osaka’s first Olympics and the pressure on her to play in the Olympics for the first time was clearly visible.

Osaka lost her serve in the first and third games and went 0-4. After this Osaka won his first game of this set but the Czech player broke the Japanese player’s serve and won the first set 6–1. Osaka, recovering from the start of the shock of losing the first set, broke Vondrusova’s serve in the second set but the 42nd-ranked Czech came back to take a service break in the 10th game of the second set to end the match. Vondrusova called it one of the biggest victories of her career after the win.
