Iran ready to make peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia

Iran’s foreign ministry has urged neighboring Azerbaijan and Armenia to de-escalate tensions and conflicts and has pledged to offer any assistance to achieve lasting peace between the two countries. Iranian spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh expressed Iran’s concern over the ongoing border conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The Iranian official expressed regret at the deaths and injuries suffered by both countries, and stressed the need for mutual restraint and respect for internationally recognized borders.
Iran’s announcement came a day after both Azerbaijan and Armenia recently confirmed their involvement in a new border conflict, with casualties on both sides.
Armenia claimed three of its soldiers were killed, with Azerbaijan saying that two of its soldiers were wounded by the shelling.
Later, both countries accepted a Russian ceasefire offer in an attempt to defuse tensions.
The clashes were one of the deadliest since last year’s 44-day conflict in the Nagorno-Karabakh region and surrounding areas, which ended after a ceasefire under Russian mediation.
