Kamalpreet Kaur created history in discus throw, entered the final with a score of 64 meters, Seema Poonia out

India’s ninth day in Tokyo Olympics-2020. India’s second medal has been confirmed. Women’s boxer Lovlina Borgohain achieved this feat by making it to the semi-finals of the 69kg category. Even today India will have chances to get medals. Due to this, Kamalpreet Kaur has made tremendous performance in the discus throw qualification group B and has made it to the final. In the qualification round, Kaur from Group B scored 64m in her third attempt and finished second. Kamalpreet has become the player to score a record for India.
Apart from Kamalpreet, Seema Punia from Group A scored 60.57m and finished sixth but missed out on qualifying for the final.

Talking about Kamalpreet, he scored 60.29 meters in the first attempt, 63.97 in the second and 64 in the last attempt. 64 was the only qualification mark to reach the finals. Now Kamalpreet will present a claim for India in the final on August 2.
However, Seema Poonia could not make it to the final. She could only reach 60.57 meters. In this way India’s medal hope in athletics remains. Earlier, archer Atanu Das and boxer Amit Panghal got defeated. The women’s discus throw final will be held on August 2.

It may be noted that Kamalpreet Kaur hails from the Sri Muktsar Sahib district of Punjab. Kamalpreet Kaur qualified for the Tokyo Olympics with a discus throw of 65.06m in the 24th Federation Cup Senior Athletics Championships in Patiala.
