Women Empowerment and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya distributed Mahalaxmi kits as the chief guest in the Chief Minister Mahalaxmi kit distribution program organized under the aegis of Women’s Empowerment and Child Development Department. Inaugurating the program by lighting the lamp at the multipurpose building, Smt. Arya said that Uttarakhand is called the land of gods. His concept is that Uttarakhand should be called the land of goddesses as well as the land of gods. This is possible only when women give proper upbringing to newborn daughters and give them equal opportunities in education and health fields like boys. He said that there is no such area in the whole country and in the world. In which women have not waved their flag. Daughters will illuminate the name of the state and the country in the coming times as well. He said that the present sex ratio in the state is 960 females per thousand males. The state government is making continuous efforts to bridge this gap of sex ratio. Under this, the Chief Minister Mahalakshmi Kit Yojana has been launched for the nutrition, cleanliness and health care of mother and girl child after delivery. He said that in any family, on the birth of a girl child, the family has to buy a lot of material. After this kit is available, they will not need to buy small things for the upbringing of the child. He said that Uttarakhand is the first and only state to take the Chief Minister Mahalaxmi Kit Distribution Scheme on the ground. Minister Rekha Arya distributed 30 Mahalaxmi kits. Mahalaxmi kits will be distributed at the block level to 741 girls born from April to June across the district. On this occasion, District Panchayat President Sona Sajwan, DM Eva Srivastava, CDO Namami Bansal, PD DRDA Anand Bhakuni, DDO Sunil Kumar, District Probation Officer Avinash Bhadauria, District Program Officer Babita Shah, Milk Union President Jagdamba Prasad Belwal, Head Jakhani Dhar Sunita Devi Dozens including Chief Chamba Shivani Bisht, District President BJP Vinod Raturi, former Minister of State Baby Aswal, Govind Rawat, Paramvir Panwar, Rekha Rana were present.
