PV Sindhu created history by winning bronze medal, another medal added to India’s account

Tokyo, 01 Aug. India’s badminton star PV Sindhu has won the bronze medal in the women’s singles category at the Tokyo Olympics-2020. She defeated He Bingjiao of China 21-13, 21-15 in the bronze match to win the medal. She was successful in winning the silver medal in Rio and now she has won the bronze medal this time. With this stupendous achievement at the Tokyo Olympics, PV Sindhu has become the first woman athlete in Indian history to have won two individual Olympic medals. Earlier, Sindhu had won a silver medal in the last Olympic Games (Rio Olympics). PV Sindhu defeated He Bingjiao of China 21-13 in the first game on Sunday in the bronze medal bout. After this, in the second game, the Chinese player tried to make a comeback in a spectacular way, but at one point she was seen faltering and the score was also seen approaching. In the middle of the second game, Sindhu was leading 10-8. He Bingjiao followed Sindhu even after this. When the score increased to 14-11, it seemed that Sindhu would now go ahead with the speed. But in the end, Sindhu created new history by winning the third game 21-15. In the semi-finals, PV Sindhu had to face world number one shuttler Tai Tzu-ying of Chinese Taipei. He Bingjiao and Sindhu have played 15 matches on the badminton court in which 9 matches have been won by Bingjiao of China and 6 matches have been won by Sindhu. The two faced each other for the first time in the 2015 Yonex Sunrise Masters quarterfinal round, after Sindhu lost in straight sets 23-21, 21-13 in that match. In the last 5 encounters, the Chinese shuttler has won four matches. Sindhu last won the World Championship final in 2019 against Bingjiao.
