Various organizations across the country celebrated Muslim Women’s Rights Day today

Today Muslim Women’s Rights Day was celebrated by various organizations across the country where Muslim women wholeheartedly thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing a law against triple talaq.
Women and Child Development Minister Mati Smriti Irani, Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupendra Yadav participated in the Muslim Women’s Rights Day program in New Delhi today. The ministers also interacted with several Muslim women victims of triple talaq.
Muslim women thanked the Prime Minister for bringing a law against the practice of triple talaq on August 1, 2019. This law has made the social evil of triple talaq a crime. He said that the government has strengthened the self-reliance, self-respect and self-confidence of Muslim women of the country and protected their constitutional, fundamental and democratic rights by bringing a law against triple talaq.
Addressing Muslim women on this occasion, Smriti Irani said that August 1 is a day to salute the struggle of Muslim women against triple talaq. He said that the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Ministry of Women and Child Development and Ministry of Labor will work in unison to promote entrepreneurship among Muslim women. He also said that Muslim women have benefited immensely from schemes like Mudra Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, Stand Up India, Poshan Abhiyan.
On this occasion, Bhupendra Yadav said that the government is working to ensure the dignity and empowerment of women from every section of the society. The government has ensured the dignity of Muslim women by bringing a law against triple talaq. Most of the major Muslim countries have also abolished the practice of triple talaq. He said that the government’s policy of ‘development without discrimination’ has created an atmosphere of trust in the entire country. The government’s decision to provide reservation in medical/dental studies to Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Economically Backward Classes will also benefit the poorer sections of the Muslim community. Bhupendra Yadav said that the government has always worked for the welfare of the needy.
In his address on the occasion, Naqvi said that the law against triple talaq has proved to be a major reform towards ensuring the constitutional rights of Muslim women and has yielded better results. The minister said there has been a significant reduction in triple talaq cases across the country after the law came into force.
