Uttarakhand / Dehradun : DM held meeting related to district level Ganga Security Committee and Rispana rejuvenation works

Under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar, a meeting was organized at Rishiparna Auditorium Collectorate related to the works of District Level Ganga Safety Committee and Respana Rejuvenation. While reviewing the works of Ganga Suraksha Samiti, the District Magistrate while receiving details of the progress of works from the departments related to Ganga protection works in Rishikesh directed all the departments to increase the progress of construction works, and beautification works. He urged the Nirman Nigam Rishikesh to speed up the progress in the construction works, Irrigation Department to increase the progress of works of flood protection and channelization in and around Saung River, Khadrimafi and Tourism Department to develop the Pond under construction at Lakkadghat from the point of view of sports activity. Gave instructions. He directed the Forest Department to settle the matters relating to the construction of Navagraha Vatika and transfer of land for various works on priority. He directed the Municipal Corporation Rishikesh to maintain the works of toilet construction and cleanliness continuously in coordination with the Forest Department. During this, environmentalist Vinod Juglan, member, District Ganga Committee, while appreciating the work done and being done in Rishikesh, urged to install wire nets at various places adjacent to the Ganges and also to treat the water of Suswa river in the best way. While reviewing the progress of the rejuvenation works of Rispana river, the District Magistrate asked the Departments of Drinking Water Corporation, Water Institute, Irrigation Department, MDDA, Forest Division Dehradun and Mussoorie, Municipal Corporation Dehradun etc. to complete the works of improvement and beautification of Rispana river at a fast pace. Gave instructions. He directed the Jal Sansthan Mussoorie and Dehradun to visit from time to time from the upper area to the downstream of Rispana river and see if there is sewerage leakage anywhere in the river, if found, it should be stopped immediately and concerned. Instructions were given to take action on the institute as per rules. Also tap the drains that fall directly into the Rispana and Bindal rivers. He directed the Irrigation Department to complete the works of flood control and channelization as per requirement in Rispana, Bindal and other such rivers. MDDA officials informed that there is no updated encroachment of any kind at any place in Rispana river area and no mining work is going on. Apart from this, the work of installing lattice on Rispana bridge will be done. The District Magistrate directed the Municipal Corporation Dehradun and MDDA to install lattice as per requirement at various places in Rispana and Bindal rivers. He directed the Municipal Corporation to install CCTV cameras at various places while banning the throwing of garbage in the Rispana river and said that any person who is found throwing garbage in the river under the surveillance of CCTV, identifying them and taking legal action against the concerned. Also, increase the number of dustbins at different places and keep cleaning plastic and garbage from rivers continuously. He also directed Forest Division, Mussoorie to complete the works related to installation of moisture measurement.
