Amit Shah discusses the flood situation in Madhya Pradesh with Shivraj
Relief and rescue operations are going on in the flood affected areas of Gwalior Chambal region of Madhya Pradesh with the help of Army and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will also conduct an aerial tour of the affected areas today.
According to official sources, in the meantime, Shri Chouhan discussed over the phone with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and informed about the latest flood situation. He also informed Shah about the relief and rescue operations being carried out by the government.
Shri Chouhan thanked Shri Shah for the cooperation extended by the Central Government in saving the people. Mr. Shah assured Mr. Chouhan that the central government is with Madhya Pradesh and the government will provide whatever resources or help is needed to save the people.
Meanwhile, Shri Chouhan reached the State Situation Room at State Mantralaya here at 10.30 pm and inquired about the relief and rescue work discussed with the officers of Gwalior Chambal Zone. Shri Chouhan will travel to Gwalior in the day by plane and from there he will take an aerial tour of the flood affected areas by helicopter. Before this, they will again go to the State Situation Room and take information about the latest situation.
In the districts of Shivpuri, Sheopur, Datia, Gwalior, Bhind, Morena and Guna etc., flood situation is prevailing for the last two to three days. Till last night more than two thousand people have been safely rescued. A total of 1171 villages have been reported to be affected by the floods. Many villagers are still trapped in the flood waters in the area. To rescue them, the relief and rescue operations with the help of Army, NDRF, SDRF and Police went on throughout the night. Rescue operations were resumed from morning with the help of Air Force helicopters. Dozens of villagers have been evacuated from the flooded area to safer places for the last two days with the help of helicopters. At present, no casualties have been reported from these areas.
