Uttarakhand / Srinagar : Accused arrested in illegal smuggling of liquor, vehicle seized
14 boxes of English liquor recovered from the vehicle
As part of the ongoing operation by the Srinagar Kotwali Police to check the smuggling of illicit liquor in the Srinagar area, a person was arrested near Chauras bridge in a vehicle going from Srinagar to Chauras. The person carrying the liquor boxes was taking them from a Srinagar liquor shop in Chauras to sell illegally. It is being told that liquor worth Rs 96 thousand was being taken for sale illegally. While seizing the car, the police have registered a case against the accused. Kotwal Hari Om Raj Chauhan said that under the direction of Pauri SSP, there is continuous raids on liquor smugglers under Srinagar area, raids at places selling illegal liquor, vehicle checking is going on against liquor smugglers. Under this, during checking on the National Highway near Chauras bridge Srinagar, when a vehicle was stopped, 14 cases of illegal English liquor were recovered in it, in which one of the accused, Kalam Singh Bhandari village Danda, Post Badiyar Garh, Tehsil Devprayag was caught on the spot. The vehicle has been seized under the Vehicle Act by registering a case against the arrested accused under the Excise Act. Kotwal Hari Om Raj Chauhan said that the police team included market outpost in-charge Deepak Tiwari, Sanjay Kumar, Anand Prakash, Kamal Rawat, Deepak Nautiyal.
