JDU will fight alone in UP elections : Lalan Singh

Newly-elected president of Janata Dal United (JDU) Lalan Singh said his party will contest the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections alone if the BJP does not give it enough seats as an alliance partner of the NDA. With this, JD(U) will be the second political party of the NDA, which has decided to contest alone in Uttar Pradesh. Earlier, VIP chief Mukesh Sahni announced this and said that his party will contest against the BJP. Sahni also said that Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath is scared to visit his state.
Referring to the incident in Arunachal Pradesh, Lalan Singh said that JD(U) has performed impressively in that state. The party contested 14 seats in the assembly elections and won 7 seats. BJP stabbed JDU in the back and merged 6 MLAs.
Lalan Singh said, we are part of NDA and if BJP doesn’t allot us enough seats in Uttar Pradesh, we will contest elections alone. JDU supporters are showing great enthusiasm.
Welcoming Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha to JD(U) at Karpuri Auditorium, Lalan Singh said, “We are committed to bring JD(U) to No.1 position. Our target is to achieve the result of 2010 Bihar assembly elections in 2025. Every member of the party will get their responsibility.
Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha joined JD(U) on Saturday and has been given the post of state vice-president of the party.
Analysts say that with a low base in UP, JD(U) and VIP are likely to take some votes from the BJP.
Meanwhile, JD(U) parliamentary board chairman Upendra Kushwaha said, I am visiting every district of Bihar to strengthen the organizational structure of the party.
Kushwaha said, the leaders of the opposition parties said that I was angry over the appointment of Lalan Singh as the national president of JD(U), but they are wrong. I am not angry. Me and Lalan Babu are old friends and have worked together for a long time. We are committed to the nationwide expansion of JDU.
