Rs 53,684 crore earned from ‘Vivad Se Vishwas’ scheme: Pankaj Choudhary

The Finance Ministry said on Monday that the government has so far received Rs 53,684 crore from the direct tax dispute resolution scheme ‘Vivad Se Vishwas’. Minister of State for Finance, Pankaj Choudhary, in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, said that over 1.32 lakh declarations have been filed under the scheme in respect of disputed tax of Rs 99,765 crore. Chaudhary said that the government had not set any targets under the ‘Vivad se Vishwas’ scheme. The scheme was a voluntary scheme for amicable settlement of pending direct tax disputes with the taxpayers. The last date to make the announcement under the scheme was March 31, 2021. However, the last date for making payment under the scheme has been extended till August 31. Taxpayers have the option to pay by October 31 with interest.
