Defense Ministry did not have any dealings with NSO Group: Government

Amid the Pegasus espionage controversy, the government on Monday said it has not entered into any dealings with the NSO group.
Ajay Bhatt, Minister of State for Defense gave this information to the Rajya Sabha in a written reply to a question. He was asked whether the government had any transaction with NSO Group Technologies.
Bhatt replied that the Defense Ministry has not entered into any transaction with NSO Group Technologies. It is noteworthy that Israel’s surveillance software company NSO Group is being accused of using Pegasus software to monitor people’s phones in many countries including India. The Opposition has been creating a ruckus in the Monsoon Session of Parliament over the Pegasus spying issue, disrupting the proceedings of both the Houses.
