Tokyo Olympics : 458 cases of COVID-19 were reported during the Games
Organizers of the Tokyo Olympics announced 28 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, but none of them involved athletes. The Tokyo Olympics were held without spectators and according to the organizers, a total of 458 cases of COVID-19 were reported during these games that ended on Sunday. The new cases include 13 contractors and six sports persons. Apart from this, six volunteers, two employees of Tokyo 2020 and a media person were also found infected. Of these, 21 are residents of Japan. Of the total number of cases reported during the Olympics, 307 were residents of Japan. From the start to the end of the game, 29 players were also involved in the 458 cases that were reported. A total of 42711 accredited people from abroad arrived in Japan during the Games. These include players, officials, media persons etc. Despite the pandemic, Tokyo held a successful Olympic Games. They culminated with a colorful ceremony on Sunday. The US took the top spot by winning 39 gold medals. China came second with 38 gold, while Japan stood third with a record 27 gold. India posted its best ever performance in the Olympic Games by winning a total of seven medals, including one gold, two silver and four bronze.
