IndusInd Bank backed para athletes to represent country at Tokyo Paralympic Games

21 IndusInd Bank-backed Para athletes who are part of the Bank’s ‘Para Champions Programme’ (in association with GoSports Foundation) will represent the country at the 2020 Summer Paralympic Games to be held in Tokyo from August 24 to September 5.

These 21 athletes, believed to be around 40 per cent of the total Indian contingent going to the Paralympic Games, will compete with the world’s best in javelin throw, shooting, swimming, archery, badminton, high jump and other sports.

IndusInd Bank Sports In-charge Sanjeev Anand said in a statement, “It is a matter of great pride to see 21 Para athletes supported by the Bank representing India at the Summer Paralympic Games in Tokyo. We look forward to seeing him on the main stage with some of the best para-athletes from around the world and then wish him all the best for all his endeavours. Through our partnership with the GoSports Foundation, we aim to continue to support all our para-athletes by providing them with the necessary resources to bring more medals to the nation.

Para-athletes backed by IndusInd Bank include Sumit (javelin throw), Deepender Singh (shooting), Varun Singh Bhati (javelin throw), Ekta Bhan (club throw), Manish Narwal (shooting), Avni Lekhara (shooting), Suyash Jadhav (shooting). Swimming), Parul Parmar (Badminton), Rakesh Kumar (Archery), Pramod Bhagat (Badminton), Sandeep Chowdhary (Javelin Throw), Tarun Dhillon (Badminton), Sharad Kumar (High Jump), Rampal Chahar (High Jump), Amit Kumar Saroha (Club Throw), Dharambir (Club Throw), Jyoti Baliyan (Archery), Jaideep (Powerlifting), Manoj Sarkar (Badminton), Suhas Yathiraj (Badminton), Niranjan Mukundan (Swimming).

It may be mentioned that the Para Champions program was started in the financial year 2015-2016 in partnership with GoSports Foundation with the objective of supporting Para-athletes in various sports on behalf of the Bank. The program currently helps 43 para-athletes in seven sports from 14 states across the country to meet their nutritional, fitness and conditioning and medical support as well as domestic and international training needs.
