The spinners will leave the Dome Base team and return to Yorkshire.

Veteran pacer Stuart Broad is understood to have suffered a calf injury that could rule him out of the second Test starting on Thursday. Because of this Mehmood has got a place in the team. Broad, 35, is currently awaiting a scan test. They will be assessed by the physio before taking a decision on their availability.

The 24-year-old Mahmood is uncapped at the Test level but was adjudged the ‘Player of the Series’ during the recent white-ball series against Pakistan.

It is noteworthy that the first Test of the five-match series played between the two teams at Trent Bridge was drawn due to bad weather on Sunday.
