India is the only country among G20 countries moving forward to achieve climate goals

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on the occasion of Independence Day on Sunday that India is the only country in the group of G-20 countries which is moving fast to achieve its climate goals. He said that India is giving equal importance to environmental security like its national security. Modi said that India has made a move towards electric mobility and work on 100% electrification of railways is going on at a fast pace. He said that Indian Railways has set a target of zero carbon emissions by 2030. He said that along with all these efforts, the country is also working on ‘Mission Circular Economy’.

He said, “India has increased the number of forest areas or national parks, tigers and Asiatic lions and it is a matter of happiness for the people. At the same time, everyone has to understand another truth that India is not free in the field of energy today. He said that India has spent more than 12 lakh crore rupees every year for the import of energy. He said that India’s energy independence is the need of the hour for the progress of the country, it is necessary to make India self-reliant.

Modi said, “So India will have to take a resolution today that we will make the country independent in the field of energy before the completion of 100 years of independence and for this our framework is clear.” Be it a gas-based economy, a nationwide network of CNG, PNG, a target of 20 per cent ethanol blending, India is moving ahead with a purpose.
