- Nitish said PM did not refuse, expect proper decision
- Tejashwi said why not caste based census
An 11-member delegation of ten parties, led by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, met Prime Minister Modi on Monday, demanding a caste-based census. In this meeting of about 40 minutes, the members of the delegation said that caste census is necessary for equal participation in development and proper implementation of the schemes. It is worth mentioning that twice in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, a unanimous resolution has been passed in favor of the caste census.
After the meeting, Nitish Kumar said that all the people have demanded a caste census from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. All the parties of Bihar are unanimous on this question. He reminded the Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai about not conducting the caste census and said that after this we decided to meet the Prime Minister. He said that the PM has listened to us. He has not ruled out caste census. Hope he will take a proper decision on this.
At the same time, Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Yadav said that this historic work will continue. When animals are counted, then humans should also be counted. If counting is being done on the basis of religion too, then why can’t counting be done on the basis of caste? The delegation included eleven leaders from ten parties. Apart from Nitish, Tejashwi, JDU’s Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, BJP’s Janak Ram, Congress’s Ajit Sharma, CPI-ML’s Mehboob Alam, CPI’s Suryakant Paswan, CPI’s Ajay Kumar, AIMIM’s Akhtarul Iman, Hum’s Jitan Ram Manjhi, VIP K Mukesh Sahni were present.
