Russia has no plans to remove Taliban from terrorist list: Siromolotov

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Siromolotov said on Monday that Russia is in no hurry to recognize the new leadership in Afghanistan and has no plans to remove the Taliban from its terrorist list.

“We do not intend to exclude the Taliban from the Russian list of terrorist organizations, or to recognize new Afghan officials,” local media quoted Mr. Siromolotov as saying. We will focus on the practical actions of the new Afghan officials and the relevant decisions of the

UN Security Council.
He said it is important that the Taliban have promised a guarantee of amnesty to Afghan security forces. “We also value the Taliban’s assurance that it will not allow Afghanistan’s territory to be used against third-party countries,” he said.
