Uttarakhand : Ranipokhari bridge collapsed on Dehradun-Rishikesh road, many vehicles were lost

Heavy rain continues in Uttarakhand for two days. The rivers are in spate due to incessant rains in Rishikesh region. On Thursday morning, the bridge built on the Jakhan river at Ranipokhari on Dehradun-Rishikesh road collapsed, at that time many vehicles were passing over the bridge. There have been reports of vehicles drifting. The portion of the bridge which is broken, some vehicles got stuck and some overturned while some vehicles are also feared to be buried under the bridge. At the same time, due to the breakdown of the bridge, Doon’s contact with Rishikesh was cut off, traffic was affected. At the same time, now if someone wants to come to Dehradun from Rishikesh, then they will have to come via Nepali Farm. Dehradun District Magistrate R. Rajesh Kumar reached the spot and took stock of the incident. Ranipokhari SHO Jitendra Chauhan told that a huge amount of water was coming in the river since last day. Water was hitting both sides of the bridge. There has also been land erosion in the direction of the petrol pump. The bridge in the middle of the bridge got damaged due to the strong flow of the river.
