In Uttar Pradesh, United Kisan Morcha has organized Kisan Mahapanchayat in Muzaffarnagar. The event is being held at Government Inter College Ground, Muzaffarnagar. BKU leader Rakesh Tikait said in a statement on Twitter that the Mahapanchayat is going to be historic. Rakesh Tikait tweeted that, the Kisan Mahapanchayat of 5th September in Muzaffarnagar will be historic. Let’s go to Muzaffarnagar on 5th September. All of you are invited to the Kisan Mahapanchayat. At the same time, a woman farmer told that, we have gathered here to get back 3 laws. Our request to Karu is that this movement has been 9 months, do not increase it further and withdraw 3 laws.
Tight security arrangements before Kisan Mahapanchayat.
The Yogi Adityanath government has geared up for the Kisan Mahapanchayat in Muzaffarnagar. Muzaffarnagar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abhishek Yadav said, “We are expecting a crowd of 70,000 people. According to sources, ten companies of paramilitary forces and 4,000 police personnel are also being deployed. In addition, drone cameras will be used for aerial surveillance and 200 CCTV cameras have been installed. More than 20 LED screens and microphones have been installed within a radius of 4 km from the venue of the Government Inter College Ground. There are already more than 500 langars running in Muzaffarnagar and surrounding areas. Significantly, farmers have been protesting against three newly enacted agriculture laws at different borders of Delhi since November 26 last year. Farmer leaders and the Center have held several rounds of talks but the impasse remains.
United Kisan Morcha has called for Bharat Bandh on 25 September
After a two-day national conference on the Singhu border, the United Kisan Morcha (SKM) has also called for a Bharat Bandh on Saturday, September 25. The farmers’ union, which has been spearheading the movement against the agricultural laws on the borders of Delhi for the last nine months, said in a statement that the SKM National Convention on the Singhu Border has decided to form joint committees of SKMs in all states and districts of India. The national convention of SKM was held on 26-27 August at Singhu border near Delhi. More than 2000 delegates from hundreds of organizations from 22 states participated in the conference, the statement said.
