Tata to make C295 aircraft in collaboration with Airbus in India

Tata Advanced Systems, a unit of Tata Sons, and American company Airbus Defense will jointly manufacture the C295 aircraft for the Indian Air Force in India. Giving this information today, Ratan Tata, Honorary Chairman, Tata Sons said that the approval of the joint project between these two companies is a big step towards opening up the aviation and avionics projects in the country. He said that the C295 is a versatile aircraft, which can be customized according to different needs. This has paved the way for the manufacturing of the entire aircraft in the country.
This will develop the supply chain domestically to international standards, which has never been possible before.
Mr Tata said, I congratulate the Tata Group, Airbus and the Indian Ministry of Defense for this as this powerful step will lead to the creation of state-of-the-art multi-use aircraft in India in collaboration with Make in India.
Commenting on Mr. Tata’s announcement, Dirk Hock, Chief Executive Officer, Airbus Defense & Space, said, “It is an honor and an honor to work with you on this project, Mr. Tata. He conveyed his best wishes and congratulations for India’s aerospace future.
After this, Sukran Singh, Managing Director and CEO, Tata Advance Systems, called it a memorable day, saying that its 11 years started when Airbus and Tata Advance Systems had agreed to partner for this project. The two companies have built a very strong relationship and have worked on its preparations.
He said that this is actually a Make in India project, where the raw material aluminum ingot will be taken on the one hand and the aircraft will be made on the other hand in collaboration with his company Airbus.
The Defense Ministry has signed an agreement with Airbus to purchase 56 C295 aircraft at a cost of Rs 22,000 crore. Of this, 16 fully completed C295 aircraft will be supplied by Airbus while 40 will be manufactured in India.
