Uttarakhand : The effect of Bharat Bandh started from morning
Rishikesh : Farmers have called for a bandh to demand a ban on online trade along with withdrawing the three agriculture law bills passed by the central government. The wide impact of the bandh was visible in the surrounding area of Doiwala. Members of local political, business organizations are sitting on dharna in support of the farmers.
The farmers demonstrated amidst tight police security and thanked all the traders for keeping the market closed. A bandh has been called by the United Kisan Morcha against any law on Monday. Active support to the bandh was announced by the Congress.
On Monday morning, Mohit Uniyal, Manoj Nautiyal, along with District President Gaurav Chaudhary, visited the market in support of the bandh by paying floral tributes to the portrait of Shaheed Bhagat Singh at Congress’s District Camp Office, Doiwala. Farmers are supporting the movement. All the farmers and other people are sitting on dharna on the square. The strike had started at eight in the morning. By organizing a meeting at the protest site, the speakers cursed the anti-farmer policies of the central government.
The policies of the central government were also criticized for the rising inflation in the country. Gaurav Choudhary, Surendra Khalsa, Mohit Uniyal, Jaswant Singh, Gurvinder Singh Babi, Sangeeta Tomar, Madhu Thapa, Kasim Ali, Harvansh Singh, Shankar Singh Kanyal, Manoj Nautiyal, Gaurav Malhotra, Vimal Gola, trade union president Ramesh Vasan, Gaurav in the dharna Malhotra, Inderjit Singh, Gangadhar Nautiyal, Umaid Bora, Sardar Krishna Singh, Abdul Razzaq, Sagar Manwal, Harendra Balian, Jaspreet Singh, Zahid Anjum, Subhash Balian, Nagendra Lodhi participated.
In Nainital also, the Kisan United Front has announced a Bharat Bandh today in protest against the Agriculture Act. Its effect has started showing in Udhamsinghnagar district since morning. Only essential commodities shops are open. There is silence on the roads as compared to normal days. At the same time, there is no effect of bandh in Nainital. The shops in the city are open as usual.
Farmers have been agitating against the agriculture law for a long time. Due to which this is the third time that Bharat Bandh has been announced on the call of Kisan United Front. Farmers’ support includes all farmers’ organizations, trade organizations, private transport organizations and political parties. Although there is a weekly bandh in Rudrapur on Mondays, but shops of essential commodities remain open. The market is completely closed due to Bharat Bandh. In the morning people came out of their homes only to get essential items.
There is silence on other routes including DD Chowk, Indira Chowk, Gawa Chowk, Nainital Road, Kashipur Bypass Road. Only those who took essential commodities like vegetables, milk, medicine, fruits were seen. Provincial Udyog Vyapar Mandal President Sanjay Junez said that the traders have always stood by the farmers and will stand by them. Here the farmers are appealing to everyone to keep the market closed, shops closed, vehicles closed. There are only a few people to be seen on the streets. It is being told that from nine o’clock there will be a wide impact.
Markets, hotels all open in Nainital
The Bharat Bandh of the United Kisan Morcha against the three farmer laws has no effect in Nainital. Here markets, hotels and other commercial establishments are open as usual. Tourism activities are also continuing unabated. Here the trade boards Tallital, Mallital and Nayana Devi trade boards neither called for the bandh nor held any meeting. Shops are also open in farmer-dominated Mangoli, Bajun, Pangot. The farmers of the neighboring rural areas did not see any role in the movement so far. According to Tallital Vyapar Mandal President Maruthi Sah, Mallital’s business leader Jagdish Bawadi, the markets are open as usual and there is no support for the bandh.
