UPI transactions worth 6.54 lakh crores in September

The Unified Payments Interface (UPI), the payment platform of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), saw transactions worth Rs 6.5 lakh crore through 3.65 billion transactions in September. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tweeted and said, through NPCI’s payment platform UPI, transactions worth Rs 6.5 lakh crore have been done through 3.65 billion transactions in September. This is the highest ever level of the YPI, both in terms of numbers and value. This is the third consecutive month that over three billion transactions have taken place on UPI. This is an indication of the widespread adoption of digital payments in the country during the Corona pandemic.

It is noteworthy that on a month-on-month basis, the number of transactions in UPI has increased by three percent and the value of transactions has increased by 2.35 percent. However, both the number and value of transactions have doubled on a yearly basis. In August this year, 3.55 billion transactions worth Rs 6.39 lakh crore were done through UPI.
