Uttarakhand / Vikasnagar : Many Congress workers including Leader of Opposition arrested

Breaking the police barricading in Barwala, Leader of Opposition and Congress workers left on foot for Juddo. The police again stopped the Leader of Opposition and Congress workers who reached near the forest of Chilio, about two km from Barwala. There was a fierce fight and scuffle between the workers and the police. After this, the Leader of Opposition and Congress workers sat on a dharna near the Chilean forest. Here Congress leaders and workers raised slogans against the state government, police and administration. There was a scuffle between the police and the Congress workers till around 2.30 pm. After this, the police arrested the Congress workers and the Leader of the Opposition after seeing the matter escalate. The Congress workers were taken away in police buses. While the Leader of the Opposition was taken in the SP’s car and taken towards Dehradun. The atmosphere in the area became tense after the arrest of the Congressmen. ADM SK Varnwal said that in view of the possibility of breach of peace, more than 70 Congress workers including Leader of Opposition Pritam Singh have been arrested. They have been sent to Police Line Dehradun.

The Kotwali police arrested 46 Congress workers who had traveled with the Leader of Opposition and took them to the police line Dehradun. A total of 46 Congress workers, including the Leader of Opposition, have been shown arrested by the police. In which Leader of Opposition Pritam Singh, State Vice President Suryakant Dhasmana, District President Sanjay Kishore, Metropolitan President Lalchand Sharma, former MLA Rajkumar, City President Vikasnagar Shammi Prakash, Sanjay Paliwwal, Vijay Saraswat etc. were involved. Late in the evening all were released on personal bonds.
