Time to hold Pakistan accountable : India
India launched a scathing attack on Pakistan for its attempts to spread false propaganda while violating the sanctity of multilateral fora and said that UN forums are being misused to hold it (Pakistan) accountable and to incite propaganda, hatred and violence. It’s time to do it. India, in its ‘Right of Reply’ at the General Meeting of the First Committee (Disarmament and International Security Issues), stated that in view of Pakistan’s practice of hosting, aiding and actively supporting terrorists, dealing with important matters of international peace and security. How can one expect any constructive contribution from him in this committee.
Adviser to India’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations A Amarnath said Pakistan’s baseless allegations against India are in fact enriched by a nation that is encouraging communal violence against Muslims and oppressing the rights of minorities. He said that Pakistan has made many baseless and baseless allegations against India regarding the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. It deals with the internal affairs of India and the entire region of Jammu and Kashmir is an integral and inseparable part of the country, he said.
Amarnath said that despite all the efforts of Pakistan, the world is able to see its deceit. He stressed that it is time to hold Pakistan accountable and not allow it to misuse the UN platform to spread hatred and incite violence. He said India as a responsible country strictly adheres to its obligations under international treaties and does not require any advice from a country which has a record of illegal export of nuclear materials and technology.
“Pakistan has no respect for the principles of the United Nations,” he said. Its prime minister glorifies global terrorists like Osama bin Laden as martyrs. What can be more proof of this country’s blatant duplicity than this?
Amarnath said the First Committee has a vast agenda to deal with global issues related to disarmament and international security. It is not a forum to address bilateral or regional issues. “We would like to reiterate that regional security issues have no place in the First Committee’s view,” he said. This committee should not only categorically reject Pakistan’s nefarious and vicious designs, but also collectively condemn Pakistan’s repeated attempts to politicize the committee’s work and hijack its mandate .
