Uttarakhand / Almora : Government should issue the mandate to abolish DDA soon : Joshi
The All-Party Sangharsh Samiti staged a sit-in in Gandhi Park on Tuesday demanding the dismantling of the system of the District Development Authority from the hilly areas. Expressing anger over the neglect of this important matter on the part of the state government, slogans were raised fiercely. The government was once again demanded to issue a mandate to abolish DDA. If the demand was not met, it was announced to continue the protest.
Samiti’s convener and municipal president, Prakash Chandra Joshi, said at the site of the protest that the all-party conflict committee has been vocal in the last four years about the demand for abolishing the district level development authority. According to public sentiment, memorandums are being sent to the higher authorities regarding this. But the government is not taking it seriously. In this matter, the government is only misleading the public with empty assurances. He said that under the pressure of the committee, the state government had talked about abolishing the DDA a few months back, but further action is still pending. The government should issue an order to completely abolish the District Level Development Authority. He said that all the rights related to the building map should be given to the municipality as before.
