It was a bitter truth and can hardly be answered: Warner
Australian opener David Warner would love to be with Sunrisers Hyderabad next season, but he believes that is not possible now. After sitting on the bench for his last five matches of IPL 2021, he said that his fans will have a lot to look forward to. Sunrisers removed Warner from the captaincy in the middle of the tournament. The team management had handed over the captaincy charge to Kane Williamson in place of Warner. Warner featured in just two of Sunrisers’ seven matches during the second leg of IPL 2021 in the UAE.
Warner was upset that he was sacked as captain, but he also expressed grief over how he was treated during the season. After winning the 2016 title and scoring more than 4000 runs for them in eight seasons, Warner felt the team management needed an answer from him, but he was not sure whether he would take such a decision.
Warner averaged over 39 in each of his last seven seasons playing with Sunrisers. Also six of those seven had a strike rate of over 140. However, in 2021, Warner disappointed everyone with the bat. During this, he scored only 195 runs in eight innings at an average of 24.37 and a strike rate of 107.73. “Look, I’m not 100% sure,” Warner told Sports Today. With the utmost respect for the owners, I say that Trevor Bayliss, VVS Laxman, Tom Moody and Muraleedharan have to be unanimous when it comes to any decision. You don’t know who was in your support and who was against you. At the end of the day you are told you are not playing.
