Uttar Pradesh : CBI seeks polygraph test of accused in Mahant Narendra Giri death case
Prayagraj : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has moved an application before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Prayagraj, seeking polygraph examination of three accused in the mysterious death of Mahant Narendra Giri, Anand Giri, Aadhya Tiwari and their son Sandeep Tiwari. . The application was filed on Tuesday and the CJM court will hear it on October 18.
The accused will be connected through video-conferencing to present their case before the court.
CBI in its application has sought permission for polygraph test of the accused to know the truth of the ongoing investigation in relation to the said case.
Meanwhile, the counsel for the accused has also filed an application against the polygraph test.
Anand Giri, Aadhya Tiwari and Sandeep Tiwari are accused of abetting the suicide of former Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP) president Narendra Giri, whose body was found hanging from the ceiling of a room in the Baghambari Math on September 20.
Mahant, in his alleged suicide note, had accused the three accused of mental torture.
An FIR under section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against the three accused at the Georgetown police station in Prayagraj.
Later, on the recommendation of the state government, the investigation of the case was transferred from the Uttar Pradesh Police to the CBI.
At present, all of them are lodged in Naini Central Jail.
