Oil-ghee, pulses, education more expensive in villages than in cities, electricity, vegetables, milk, entertainment related things cheaper

In the country, inflation in the month of September is less in rural areas than in urban areas, but still the prices of many essential things in rural areas are higher than in cities. The rural areas of Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh are costlier in the country as compared to the figures released by the government. At the same time, the inflation in urban areas of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Haryana and Jharkhand is higher this September than last year.

According to the data of the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation, the consumer price index based inflation has come down to 4.35 percent in September this year as compared to 7.27 percent in September 2020. Out of this, rural inflation stands at 4.13 per cent this year as against 7.36 in September last year. At the same time, urban inflation has come down from 7.26 per cent to 4.57 per cent.

Expensive in villages: Talking about rural areas, things like clothes, slippers and shoes are expensive here compared to cities. At the same time, things related to food like meat, fish, eggs, oil-ghee, pulses, spices and even education are more expensive than in cities.
Cheap in villages: If we talk about cheap things, then the things related to fuel and electricity, vegetables, milk, transport and entertainment are cheaper in villages than in cities.

On the other hand, if we talk about the states, then Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra are the states where inflation in rural areas is higher than in urban. At the same time, the situation is reverse in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand and Haryana. Rural areas are cheaper here than urban areas.

The effect of rising fuel prices will be more
Experts believe that if fuel prices continue to rise in the coming days, its effect can be seen in the form of increase in inflation of other things. Along with the daily increase in the prices of petrol, diesel, the prices of PNG and CNG in the country have also increased for the second time in a month. CARE Rating estimates that if there is an increase in the price of crude oil in the international market, then its effect can be seen on the inflation of other products in the country.
