Uttar Pradesh / Prayagraj : Four members of a Dalit family murdered, mother and daughter suspected of rape

Four members of a Dalit family were brutally murdered in a heart-wrenching incident in Prayagraj’s Gohri village. All four were hit on the head with an axe.
On Thursday morning, the blood-stained bodies of Phoolchand (50), his wife Meenu (47), daughter Sapna (17) and son Shiv (10) were found in the room. The stench was emanating from the dead bodies. No family member came out of the house on Wednesday. In such a situation, it is believed that all four were killed on Tuesday night. Sapna and Meenu’s clothes were found in disarray. Sapna’s body was lying under the cot. It is suspected that the murder may have taken place after the rape. The main door of the house was open. Nothing was taken from the house. In such a situation, the police is refusing to murder due to robbery, theft. There is outrage in the village over the killing of four members of a Dalit family. This family is having a dispute with Kamlesh Singh, Rakesh Singh, Kanha Thakur etc., who live two kilometers away over land dispute. Kamlesh Singh is in jail. A month ago, the family of Dalit Phoolchand had filed a case against the Thakur family. After this, a cross FIR of molestation was done on behalf of that family.
A complaint has been lodged against seven people of Thakur family. The agitated women did not allow the dead body to rise. Inspector Phaphamu Ram Kewat Patel and constable Sushil were made serious allegations by the women, then IG Rakesh Singh suspended both of them. Only after this the body could be sent for post-mortem. Many people of the accused family have been taken into custody by the STF and Crime Branch. Apart from the land dispute, the police is also probing the angle of murder for rape. In view of the tension in the village, the force is deployed. The police officers are not ready to say anything regarding the rape of the teenager and the woman.
