Maharashtra : High Court order to Mumbai Police Commissioner, give alimony to ex-wife immediately

Bombay High Court has directed Mumbai Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale to clear the outstanding maintenance allowance of his ex-wife Pratima alias Rani Hemant Nagrale at the earliest.Justice A. a. Saeed and Justice S. Yes. Dige’s division bench passed its order in this regard on 15 November. Pratima Nagrale had filed an application seeking directions to increase the alimony and provide accommodation in a good place like Nagpur or Pune.
Pratima’s lawyer PV Nelson Rajan had informed the court that Hemant Nagrale had not paid the maintenance amount for the last four months. He further said that this was not the first time that Nagrale had delayed the payment of arrears of maintenance.
The court said, “The respondent husband is expected to pay the arrears of maintenance by the next date.” Along with this, the court fixed December 6 for the next hearing of the matter.
The bench directed Nagrale to file an affidavit on this application. Pratima Nagrale’s petition states, “The respondent husband is a senior IPS officer and hence, his salary also keeps on increasing from time to time. Apart from the salary, the respondent husband is also getting income from various other sources like shares of immovable properties and rent.” He also submitted to Nagrale his three years salary slips, details of immovable properties and his income tax return documents. The court was requested to direct the production.
