BCCI should take permission from Government of India before sending team to South Africa: Anurag Thakur

In the month of December, the Indian team has to tour South Africa. Here Team India will go for the purpose of organizing a full tour, where it has to play a series of Test, ODI and T20 International matches. But the new variant of Kovid-19 (Covid 19 New Variant) which came to South Africa, Omicron has increased the difficulties of this tour. On Saturday, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said that the BCCI should contact the Government of India before sending its team to South Africa. After this, the government will take a thoughtful decision on the matter.
There has been a stir in South Africa due to the availability of a new variant of Kovid-19. The World Health Organization (WHO) has asked the world to be careful about this variant.
Union Minister and former BCCI President Anurag Thakur was present in Baghpat for a program on Saturday. On this occasion, while talking to news agency ANI, he said, ‘Not only BCCI but every board should contact the Indian government before sending their teams to countries where a new variant of corona virus is emerging.’
He said, ‘It is not right to send your teams to those countries where there is danger. If BCCI approaches us, we will consider it.
Let us tell you that the World Health Organization (WHO) has named this new variant B.1.1.529 found in South Africa as Omicron. WHO has given this name after a special discussion on this variant.
India has already sent its A team to South Africa to prepare for this tour. Many young players in this team are playing a series of unofficial Test matches against South Africa’s A team. After this, the senior team will tour here for three Tests, three ODIs and 4 T20 matches. According to the schedule, this tour will start from December 17, which will run till January 26.
