Maharashtra : Claim in chargesheet- Sachin Waje collected money for Parambir

The chargesheet, filed in the extortion case, claims that Sachin Waje collected money for Parambir Singh, former Mumbai Police chief. Suspended police officer Sachin Waje has accused former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh of extorting money on his behalf by calling him ‘number one’. Mumbai Police has claimed this in its chargesheet in an extortion case. It is alleged that according to Sachin Waje, 75 percent of the recovery money used to go to Parambir Singh and he kept the rest.

The Crime Branch of Mumbai Police on Saturday filed a chargesheet against former city police commissioner Parambir Singh and three others in an extortion case registered in suburban Goregaon. The over 400-page chargesheet was filed by Chief Metropolitan Magistrate S.B. was filed before Bhajipale. This is the first chargesheet filed against senior IPS officer Singh. He is named in at least five cases of extortion in Maharashtra and was suspended earlier this week. Of the accused, Sumit Singh and Alpesh Patel are out on bail while Vinayak Singh and Riyaz Bhatti are wanted accused.

According to the chargesheet, three to four witnesses confirmed that Waje used to call Singh as “number one” and that “number one has asked for money”. was asked to investigate. He used to meet the city police chief directly and discuss important matters and all this shows that he was close to Singh. It said that Singh, through Waje and other accused, used to demand money from cricket bookies as well as hotel and bar owners and threatened to arrest them and raid their establishments if they did not pay the money.

The matter pertains to the complaint of Bimal Aggarwal. According to the complaint, the accused extorted Rs 9 lakh from him for not raiding the restaurant twice and forced him to buy two smartphones worth Rs 2.92 lakh for himself. According to the complainant, he used to run these establishments in partnership. Police had earlier reported that the incident took place between January 2020 and March 2021. After this, a case was registered against the six accused under sections 384, 385, 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
