Omicron spreading rapidly in Maharashtra, 7 more patients found in Mumbai and Pune; 3 year old child also infected
The cases of the new variant Omicron of Corona are increasing rapidly in Maharashtra. On Friday, 7 more patients infected with this variant have been found in the state. With this, the total number of Omicron patients here has increased to 17. It has been told by the Health Department of Maharashtra that 3 new cases of Omicron have been reported in Mumbai and South African variant has been found in 4 patients in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation of Pune. A 3-year-old child is also included among the infected. After this, the total number of infected with the new variants in the country has gone up to 32.
The Health Department said that all three patients from Mumbai had recently come from Tanzania, Britain and South Africa-Nairobi. Their ages are 48, 25 and 37 and all are male. Four Omicron patients were found in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) area of Pune district. All of them had been in contact with 3 Nigerian women who had previously been confirmed to have an Omicron form of infection. Of the 7 new patients, four had taken all doses of the vaccine. Of the 7 new Omicron patients, four have no symptoms, while three have mild symptoms. “One patient had received a single dose of the vaccine, while one patient was not vaccinated,” the release said. Another patient is a three-and-a-half year old child and is not eligible for vaccination.
In Maharashtra, 695 new cases of corona virus infection were reported in the last 24 hours. 12 more patients have died in the state since Thursday evening. The department said that the number of cases of corona infection in the state has increased to 66,42,372 while the number of dead has gone up to 1,41,223. 64,90,936 people have recovered from the infection.
At the same time, earlier Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that out of 7 people found infected in Pune in the past, the report of 5 has come negative, while the condition of two others is stable. Talking to the media in Pune, Pawar said, “The report of 5 out of 7 Omicron infected found in the district has come negative.” Pawar held a meeting with state Home Minister Dilip Valse Patil and other officials here on Friday Reviewed the situation regarding COVID-19.
Regarding the increasing cases of Omicron in the state, Pawar said that people coming from abroad are being tracked and their health is being monitored. He said, “So far in Maharashtra, we have traced a total of 4,604 foreign travelers. The administration is contacting them regularly and getting information about their health. The minister said that in Pune at least one dose of the vaccine has been given to all people aged 18 and above, while Mumbai is also very close to the target.
