Omicron cases rise in the country

Maharashtra has the highest number of cases
Maharashtra recorded the highest number of 32 cases of Omicron so far. After this 17 cases were registered in Rajasthan. While eight cases have been registered in Karnataka, five in Gujarat, five in Kerala, two in Telangana, one each in Tamil Nadu, Bengal and Andhra Pradesh. 10 cases have been reported in the Union Territory of Delhi and one in Chandigarh. Notably, the country’s first two cases of the Omicron variant were detected in Karnataka. Karnataka Health Minister K. Sudhakar said that five more cases of Omicron have been detected in the state.
Kerala government gave strict instructions
Kerala Health Minister Veena George on Thursday directed officials to strictly enforce restrictions for those coming from non-high-risk countries. He said that everyone will have to strictly follow the norms of self-quarantine and avoid crowded places, cinema halls and malls.
Decrease in active cases of corona but 343 deaths
Active cases of corona infection continue to decline in the country. While 7,974 new cases have been found during the last 24 hours, active cases have remained at 87,245. The recovery rate of patients has increased and the daily and weekly infection rate remains below one percent. According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry at 8 am on Thursday, 343 more patients have also lost their lives due to the corona epidemic. These include 282 deaths from Kerala and 13 from Bengal. The death toll in Kerala is high because the earlier deaths in the state are being released along with the new figures.
A total of 135.84 crore doses were administered
According to the data of the CoWin portal till 6.30 pm, a total of 135.84 crore doses of anti-corona vaccine have been administered in the country so far. These include 82.38 crore first and 53.45 crore second doses. It has been told by the Ministry of Health that so far 141.80 crore vaccine doses have been supplied by the Center to the states and union territories. The states are still left with 16.42 crore unused doses which are to be administered to the people.
