Madhya Pradesh : I did not even know that my son was also in the helicopter with CDS Rawat… Sadness of the father who sacrificed his son for the country.

The father of Air Force martyr Group Captain Varun Singh says that he will happily allow the next generation of his family to join the army if given a chance. Varun Singh was involved in the helicopter crash that took place in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu on 8 December. After treatment for seven days, he died on Wednesday (Group Captain Varun Singh Death News). When his body reached Bhopal on Thursday, father KP Singh had a special conversation with NBT Online (Group Captain Varun Singh Father Interview).
13 people had already died in this accident, including the country’s first Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika. Varun Singh survived alone but was badly injured. He breathed his last on Wednesday after fighting for life and death for seven days.
Colonel KP Singh, who retired from the army, told that he did not even know that his son was also in that helicopter along with General Rawat. He was in Mumbai when this accident happened. He came to know about Varun when a journalist called him. Then they started to know about it. The matter was related to the CDS of the country, so his curiosity had increased, but no clear information was being received from anywhere. After a while, when the wife of Shaheed Varun Singh called him, he was able to get complete information.
The father told that Varun was badly burnt in the accident. Still, he gave his wife’s phone number to the people who reached there. Along with this also said that call the wife and tell that she is fine. After this he was quite sure about the son, but in the accident he was burnt to 95 percent and despite all the efforts, he could not be saved.
He told about Varun that he was an ideal son, husband and father as well as an ideal soldier. He also recalled the incident on October 12 last year when Varun made a safe landing of Tejas. For this he was awarded the Shaurya Chakra this year. The father said that in such accidents, pilots usually take the option of bail out. Varun risked his life to make a safe landing so that the upgrade program of Tejas could go ahead.
The father said that there is a shock of the death of the son, but there is also a feeling of pride. He gave his life for the country. His entire family was shocked by the death. Life will never be back to normal for Varun’s wife, but he hopes that with the passage of time, he will overcome his misery. The retired colonel told that he had only two sons, no daughter. Now his daughter-in-law is his daughter.
Group Captain Varun Singh’s younger brother is also in the army. He is in the rank of Commander in the Navy. When asked about allowing the next generation of the family to join the army after Varun’s death, the father said that he would not even have to think about it. They will happily agree to it. He told that even if his son had died on the battlefield, there would have been no change in his decision.
