Weekend curfew in Delhi today and tomorrow

A two-day curfew has been imposed in the national capital Delhi. During this, Delhiites will remain in their respective homes. They are not allowed to go out except under special circumstances. The 55-hour weekend curfew began at 10 pm on Friday and will continue till 5 am on Monday. Officials said that a weekend curfew has been imposed in Delhi to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
- On Friday, 17,335 new cases of corona have been found in Delhi and the positivity rate has reached a worrying level. In the last 24 hours, 9 patients have died due to corona infection. The positivity rate in Delhi has increased to 17.73%. After May 8, there are the highest number of new cases in 1 day, while after May 11, there is the highest positivity rate.
- In view of this, a meeting of the Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has been called in Delhi on Monday. In this meeting, after discussing the rapidly increasing cases of corona, a decision can be taken to impose more restrictions. The last meeting of DDMA was held on Tuesday. In this, it was announced to impose Weekend Lockdown in Delhi.
- During the weekend curfew, the movement of people will be restricted for 55 hours, except for persons involved in essential services and those falling under exempted categories. A strict vigil is being kept on the markets, roads, colonies and other public places of Delhi.
- During the weekend curfew, only persons involved in essential services and facing emergencies will be allowed to step out of their homes. Those exiting will have to present an e-pass or a valid identity card issued by the government.
- Officials said that if a person has to go out for important work and if he does not fall in any of the exempted categories, then he will have to take an e-pass issued by the Delhi government. People can apply for e-pass for weekend curfew and night curfew on Delhi government website.
- Officials involved in essential and emergency services, persons posted in diplomatic offices of various countries as well as persons holding constitutional posts will be allowed to move during the curfew on production of valid identity cards.
- Judges, judicial officers, court staff and lawyers will also be allowed to travel on production of valid identity card, service identity card, photo entry pass and permission letter issued by the court administration. Other persons exempted include private medical personnel such as doctors, nursing staff, paramedical personnel and persons associated with hospitals, diagnostic centres, testing laboratories, clinics, pharmacies, pharmaceutical companies and medical oxygen suppliers. Such people will be given this exemption on presenting a valid identity card.
- Persons arriving or departing from airports, railway stations and inter-state bus terminals will be allowed to travel on production of valid tickets. During the weekend curfew, only shops selling essential items like grocery, medical equipment, medicines will be allowed to open. Restaurants will remain closed but supplies will be allowed at home. In the e-commerce sector, only home supply of essential items will be allowed.
- Public parks and gardens will remain closed during the curfew. Only 20 people have been allowed to attend the wedding ceremony and funeral. An official in the south-eastern district said enforcement teams will make regular rounds of railway stations, bus stations, metro stations and markets to ensure that there is no rush and people do not move around unnecessarily.
- “If any non-essential category of shops or establishments are found open during the curfew, the shops will be sealed by pasting notices at the gates,” the official said. Do not come and help the administration in curbing the spread of the virus. According to an order issued by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Tuesday, pregnant women and patients going for medical and health services as well as attendants are legal. Exemption will be given on production of identity card and doctor’s prescription.
