Uttarakhand / Dehradun : The people of Congress opened the front against the party! Many contenders including Surat Singh Negi, Vaibhav Walia will contest from Dehradun metropolitan seats.

Dissatisfaction has erupted among ticket contenders after the declaration of Congress candidates for Raipur, Rajpur Road, Dharampur and Dehradun Cantt assembly seats of Dehradun metropolis. On the reserved seats of Raipur and Rajpur Road, the opposition has come out openly against the party leadership.
Supporters protest on Raipur seat
Supporters of Prabhulal Bahuguna, who was a strong contender for the ticket from Raipur seat, lodged their protest with former Chief Minister Harish Rawat at Congress Bhawan on Monday afternoon. However, Harish Rawat did not get out of his car and left Congress Bhavan directly for Madhuban Hotel. Prabhu Lal’s supporters allege that during this time two supporters got injured after being hit by Harish Rawat’s vehicle. Supporters also said that they would not campaign in favor of party candidate Hira Singh Bisht. At the same time, advocate Chandramohan Kandari associated with Congress said that he will contest as an independent from Raipur seat. Apart from this, ticket contender Surat Singh Negi has also announced to contest as an independent.
Dissatisfaction emerged on Rajpur Road seat
Some leaders of Valmiki Samaj are angry with Rajpur Road reserved seat being declared as Congress candidate. On Monday, the state president of Rahul-Priyanka Gandhi Sena Congress Madan Lal Valmiki talked about contesting the elections as an independent in opposition to Rajkumar. In a meeting held at a house in Valmiki Colony, Madan Lal said that he would file his nomination on Tuesday. Valmiki leader Vikas Saathi, Gagan Chhachhar, Rahul Swedia, Rajesh Chanchal, Naresh Parche, Sushil Kumar, Parveen Kumar, Rohit Tank, Satish Kumar etc. were present in the meeting.
Angry Puran Singh will contest from Dharampur
Puran Singh Rawat is very angry before the ticket was given to former minister Dinesh Agarwal on Dharampur seat. He talked about filing nomination as an independent on January 27.
Walia will hold a meeting with supporters in Cantt today
Vaibhav Walia, who was a strong contender for the ticket from Dehradun Cantt seat, will hold a meeting with the supporters today to decide the strategy ahead. On not getting the ticket, he said that whether he wants to contest the election or not, the decision regarding this will be taken in the meeting itself. Congress has fielded Suryakant Dhasmana from Cantt assembly constituency.
BJP’s growing challenges in Cantt
The challenges are increasing for the BJP in the Dehradun Cantt seat. Here, many claimants have come out in the open against the party declaring Savita Kapoor, wife of late MLA Harbans Kapoor, as the candidate. Three days ago, a meeting of some of the contenders was also held at the house of BJP spokesperson Vinay Goyal. Vinay Goyal himself was a contender for this seat. His camp is pressurizing the party to reconsider the ticket. Meanwhile, party leader Dinesh Rawat has announced to contest as an independent. Another contender Jogendra Singh Pundir also urged the party to reconsider its decision.
