Uttarakhand / Haldwani : Rebellion in Congress, former cabinet minister Harish Chandra Durgapal resigns from Congress, will contest as an independent
After the release of the second list, the tone of rebellion in Uttarakhand Congress has intensified. There has been a stir in the Congress after the party declared Sandhya Dalakoti as the candidate from Lalkuan assembly. On Tuesday morning, hundreds of supporters threatened in the Mahapanchayat organized at the residence of former cabinet minister Harish Chandra Durgapal. After resigning from the Congress party, Durgapal was announced to contest as an independent. On Monday, Congress declared former block chief Sandhya Dalakoti as the candidate of Lalkuan assembly. Due to which there was anger among the supporters of Durgapal and Harendra Bora. On Tuesday morning, hundreds of supporters reached the residence of Harish Chandra Durgapal in Halduchaud. Who raised slogans against the Congress party and requested Durgapal to contest as an independent.
Supporters of Chorgalia, Gaulapar, Bareilly Road, Lalkuan and Bidukhatta announced their resignation from Congress in support of Durgapal in the Mahapanchayat which lasted for about three hours. After which, while addressing the workers, the former cabinet minister said that he has always worked for the Congress. But the opinion of the supporters is paramount. If people want, he will contest as an independent. During this he became emotional many times.
Sandhya was prevented from meeting by the supporters by closing the gate
On Tuesday morning, former cabinet minister Harish Chandra Durgapal was consulting the workers at his residence. Then the official candidate of the Congress party Sandhya Dalakoti and her husband reached her residence along with the supporters. But Durgapal supporters closed their main gate and started protesting against Sandhya Dalakoti. Angry workers started raising slogans in favor of Durgapal and Harend Bora and against the Congress party. For a long time, the supporters did not allow Sandhya Dalakoti to enter Durgapal’s house. After which Sandhya Dalakoti and her husband Congress leader Kiran Dalakoti sat on a dharna outside the gate along with the supporters. Pankaj Durgapal, son of former cabinet minister Harish Chandra Durgapal, kept persuading him to return at this time as the workers are very angry. Here inside the gate, the workers announced their resignation from the Congress during the opinion polls. After which Sandhya went back with Dalakoti supporters.
