Uttar Pradesh : Akhilesh’s clarification on ticket to Gayatri Prajapati’s wife convicted in rape case, Azam Khan and Nahid Hasan also defended

Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav has given a clarification on the questions being raised about giving ticket to the wife of former minister Gayatri Prajapati, who is serving life sentence in the rape case. The SP president has also defended Azam Khan and Nahid Hasan, who are contesting from jail, saying that false cases were registered against their leaders during the BJP rule. BJP is constantly attacking SP by accusing it of giving tickets to leaders with tainted and criminal image.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party released the second list of candidates on Tuesday, in which the name of Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, who was Mining Minister in the SP government, was also there. SP has given ticket from Amethi to Maharaji Prajapati, wife of Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, who is serving life sentence after being found guilty in a minor rape case. Akhilesh Yadav said in a conversation with news agency ANI, “No case is registered against Gayatri Prajapati’s wife, cases are against her husband.”

Defending other SP leaders as well, Akhilesh Yadav said, “Most of the cases against Azam Khan were registered during the BJP rule. As far as Nahid Hasan is concerned, BJP has registered most of the cases against him. Both the leaders have filed their nominations from jail itself.
