Voting has been held in Basti of Uttar Pradesh in the sixth phase of the assembly elections. But after the voting, now the controversy has started there and the opposition has raised questions on fair elections. In fact, VVPAT slips were found after voting outside the strong room of Basti Mandi complex. There many children were found playing with these VVPAT slips. After this the police and administration were informed. After investigation in this case, the SDM called it the slips of the mock drill and said that it should have been destroyed. But it was not done.
According to the information, after voting in Basti Mandi Committee premises, EVMs and VVPAT machines were kept in the strong room and the children got VVPAT slips in the morning behind the boundary of the strong room premises. Children started playing with these slips and when people saw it, there was a stir, the crowd of people started increasing. At the same time, when a home guard started collecting VVPAT slips scattered here and there in the strong room premises, people protested. After this, the women and people of the village started beating the home guard by running.
Officers reached the spot
At the same time, seeing the seriousness of this matter, the team of police and administration reached the spot. When the candidates got the matter of the slips, they also reached there. BSP candidate Zaheer Ahmed demanded an inquiry into the matter and said how these slips were thrown here and there. Obviously this raises questions on the administration. How can fair elections be held in such a situation, he said.
Mock drill slips
However, when the news of the receipt of VVPAT slips reached many people, the SDM investigated the matter. The SDM said that before the elections, mock polling is done in the mock drill and these slips are there. According to the rules, these slips should have been crashed. But people have thrown these slips here and there. This is gross negligence and action will be taken against whoever is found guilty after investigation.
Complaint to election commission
On the other hand, in the matter of slips, the opposition parties have surrounded the government and raised questions on fair elections. In this matter, SP, BSP and opposition parties have complained to the commission and meeting the observers demanded a high level inquiry. In this matter, the DM, who reached the spot, told these slips to be a mock poll and said that there would be a fair investigation.
