Assam / Guwahati: Woman sub-inspector arrested her own fiancee before marriage
Assam’s female sub-inspector arrested her own fiancee before marriage. It is alleged that the fiancé had tried to marry with a fake identity. Also cheated other people. After investigating the matter, the sub-inspector arrested his fiancee. The accused was produced in the Nagaon court on Wednesday evening from where the court sent him to two-day police custody. The case is of Nagaon district of Assam. Sub-Inspector Jonmani Rabha, in-charge of the women’s cell of Nagaon police station, has arrested her fiance Rana Pagg for trying to marry with a fake identity, for allegedly cheating besides duping lakhs of rupees.
The two met in January 2021
Jonmani Rabha said that she met Pagg in January 2021 while posting in Majuli. During this, Pagg allegedly introduced himself as ONGC’s public relations officer. A few days after the meeting, Pagg proposed marriage to Jonmani, which he accepted. After this, the families of both Jonmani and Pagg met and both got engaged in October 2021 and their marriage was fixed in November 2022.
In early 2022, Jonmani began to doubt Pug’s working style because Jonmani himself had a degree in public relations and advertising. Her suspicion turned into confidence on Tuesday when she met three people. The three men told Johnmoney that Pagg had cheated Rs 25 lakh in the name of awarding the contract. After investigating the matter, Johnmani came to know that Pagg is not working with ONGC.

Johnmoney also found during the investigation that Pagg used an SUV, which he had hired. He also kept a personal security guard and driver with him, so that people would think that he was a high profile officer.

Johnmani Rabha said that after knowing the reality of her (fiancee) I took action against her. We have recovered several seals, fake ID proofs, incriminating documents, a laptop, several mobile phones and check books. I am thankful to God and I have no regrets. I want to give a strong message to the people of Assam that if they do something wrong then I will not spare anyone, not even my own family members.
