India should have declared innings only after Sachin’s double century, Yuvraj recalled special match

Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh recalled the moments when former captain Rahul Dravid announced the end of the innings during the 2004 tour of Pakistan, when Sachin Tendulkar was only a short distance from a double century. Yuvi said that Sachin should have been allowed to score a double century. He said that India had a lot of time to get results in the match. And when Sachin and I were on the pitch, we were told to get our achievements fast. Remind that in this Test, India had announced the end of the innings at 675 for 5 after Yuvraj Singh’s half-century. At that time Sachin was on 194. And as soon as the innings was declared, there was an earthquake in the media. And the time then and the present day, this issue comes to the fore again and again and there will always be a discussion on this topic.

Later, Sachin said on several occasions that he was disappointed with Dravid’s decision. Sachin also wrote in his autobiography how he told Dravid during a detailed conversation that he was not happy with his decision. Recalling those moments, Yuvi said in a conversation with a channel that he believes that India should have declared the innings after the completion of Sachin’s double century. Yuvi said that we got the message in the middle that you should bat fast because we are going to declare the innings. The lefty batsman said that Sachin could have scored the required six runs in the next over and after that we would have bowled 8-10 overs. I don’t think two overs would have made any difference in the outcome of that match.

Yuvi said that if it was the third or fourth day, then you have to keep the team ahead. So when you were on 150, he declared the innings. Yuvraj said that he has his own opinion here. I think that innings should have been declared only after Sachin’s double century in that Multan Test was completed. Remind that India won the Multan Test by an innings and 52 runs. Then in the series against Pakistan, Yuvi scored 230 runs including a century and a half-century.
