Uttarakhand : Four nominations were found correct, one’s paper rejected, independent candidate’s proposers got signatures

In Champawat by-election, four nominations were found to be correct, while the candidature of an independent candidate Deepak Belwal was rejected due to forged signatures of the proposers. The nomination was rejected after hearing from 8 pm to around 10 pm on the objection regarding the signature.

The proposers recorded in Belwal’s nomination papers have denied having their own signatures. Proposers Mahesh Gahatodi, Ravindra Gahatodi, Nikita Gahatodi, Suman Gahatodi have sent a letter to the RO regarding this. The returning officer said that the hearing had started after eight o’clock in the night on the objection regarding the signature on the nomination of the candidate Belwal. Decision is likely to come by late night.

  • BJP: Pushkar Singh Dhami
  • Congress: Nirmala Gahatodi
  • SP: Manoj Bhatt alias LM Bhatt and
  • Independent: Himanshu Gadkoti.

Clean chit to BJP in code of conduct violation case
The BJP has got a clean chit in the matter of posting of nodal officer in the camp office of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in Champawat. DM Narendra Singh Bhandari said that after the instructions of the Chief Electoral Officer, an inquiry was conducted by the CDO in this matter. In this, it has come to the fore that a case of violation of the code of conduct is not made.

Investigation revealed that orders for posting of Nodal Officer Engineer Kedar Singh Brijwal were made on April 30, while the date of by-election was announced on the evening of May 2. Therefore, the case of violation of the code of conduct does not arise. CDO RS Rawat has postponed the posting of nodal officer till further orders in view of the code of conduct.
